Prevention & Screening: Turning Early Detection into Meaningful Insight
This dashboard highlights opportunities in preventive care and cancer screenings—clarifying member eligibility, screening completion, and care gaps across breast, cervical, and colon cancers. Redesigned from an existing Power BI report, it offers intuitive visuals, filter-aware interactivity, and dynamic storytelling to support faster, smarter decisions in population health strategy.
Brainstorming Session
This dashboard began as a redesign of a stakeholder's existing Power BI report. During our brainstorming sessions, we worked closely with clinical and strategy teams to reimagine how prevention and cancer screening data could be more effectively visualized. We focused on elevating the story around breast, cervical, and colon cancer screenings—highlighting member eligibility, provider alignment, and geographic trends.
Iterations
We sketched multiple mock-ups focused on clarity and impact. Each iteration explored different layouts, visual cues, and metric groupings to better highlight screening eligibility and completion across various cancers. The goal was to elevate usability and storytelling so that insights could spark real-world action.
Development Phases
Throughout development, we focused on creating an experience that felt effortless for users. Using dynamic zone visibility and clickable visuals, the dashboard filters instantly based on selected metrics—allowing users to explore screening data by cancer type, region, or demographic in just one step. Every design choice was made to support fast, intuitive access to critical prevention insights.
Functionalities
This dashboard was built with a strong emphasis on user interaction. When a visual is selected—such as screening rates by cancer type—it automatically highlights related sections across the dashboard, helping users instantly see which areas are impacted. With filter-heavy functionality, users can also track their selections in real time, much like viewing chosen filters on a shopping website. These features make navigating prevention insights both intuitive and engaging.
