Per Member Per Month (PMPM): Visualizing Cost Trends, Brand Impact, and Utilization

This dashboard presents a clear breakdown of GLP-1 plan costs, focusing on Net PMPM—Per Member Per Month—across brands, conditions, and time periods. Built through collaborative brainstorming and iterative design, it combines dynamic visuals with interactive features to make cost comparisons intuitive and engaging. Whether exploring utilization shifts or drilling into brand-level performance, the dashboard turns detailed cost data into a story that drives smarter strategy and decisions.

Brainstorming Session

It began with a focused brainstorming session aimed at visualizing GLP-1 plan cost trends across two distinct time periods. We explored how to showcase variations in PMPM by building early wireframes in Figma that mapped out comparisons between current and prior years. The collaborative effort helped establish narrative flow and layout hierarchy, ensuring the final dashboard would tell a clear, data-driven story around GLP-1 utilization and spend.

Iterations

Throughout the iteration process, we explored multiple layout variations to ensure the GLP-1 story was intuitive and comparative across time periods. We also tested table map layers that allowed users to view all GLP-1 brands in a single snapshot, helping surface patterns and brand-level insights with ease. These iterations were key to refining both function and visual flow

Development Phases

To elevate user experience, we focused on dynamic zone visibility (DZV), allowing users to explore cost drivers across GLP-1 brands and demographics seamlessly. Instead of a traditional “How to Read” button, we integrated a visually intuitive guide that clarified dashboard navigation upfront. Metric buttons were introduced to streamline data exploration, making comparisons effortless across key categories like sex, brand, and medical conditions. Each phase of development was built around one goal: create a dashboard that feels as smart as the insights it delivers.
